Kew goes in to bat

BBC NEWS | England | Norfolk | Teenager finds bat asleep in bra

Kew: You should ask yourselves, who put the bat there in the first place? You should consider, my little mongbat friends ... this might have been any one of you!
Kew: *maniacal laughter MWHAHAHA*

We're Doomed?

Mysterious alien "Ghost Slug"

Wharf: It appears that some of the creatures from Doom may be making a bid for escape here, Captain. This is a cave-dwelling carnivorous slug, which may not be a threat yet, but it is spreading and evolving. I suggest we watch it very carefully.
Dianna Troy: Wharf, I cannot sense anything yet from it, threatening or otherwise. This is a whole new life form. We should at least try and communicate with it.

Fine feathers make fine birds

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Fossil feathers reveal their hues

Beverley Crasher: Their biological research goes back into the far distant past, Captain. It's really very exciting.

It used to hold water

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Moon's interior 'did hold water'

Georgy Laforge: They only have one moon here, Captain, but they're studying it very intensely.

Location, location

Volcano spews lava in Hawaii
Mount Etna flows back to life

Wharf: I have located Montor, Captain. However, it appears to be duplicated or perhaps split in two. Anything or anyone powerful enough to do this must be a potential threat to us.

Consideration of Origins

Raph's Website » Do players know what they want?

Dayta: I find this an interesting exposition of desires to manipulate reality using technology.

Georgy Laforge: Yes Dayta, but they have all this technology, and all they wanna do is play games with it?!

Giant spiders

Beverley Crasher: Captain, giant spiders appear to have evolved here too. I almost thought I was back in Ilshenar.

A lot of misunderstandings

BBC NEWS | Magazine | Upstairs, downstairs

Johnluke Pickard: I wonder if they learn from their history? This Kentwell seems an interesting experiment.

Dianna Troy: I cannot say, Captain. But I am sensing that there are groups which really do not know how each other lives. There is a lot of misunderstanding.

Somewhere not in Sosaria anymore

A group of mongbats are sitting round a table ...

Johnluke Pickard: *orates*
Johnluke Pickard: We are the voyagers of the Mongbat Enterprise. Our mission: to seek out Real Life and new civilisations, to boldly go where no mongbat has gone before!
Beverley Crasher: *mutters very quietly to Dianna*
Beverley Crasher: Does he have to do that at the beginning of *every* meeting?
Dianna Troy: *pats Beverley's hand soothingly*
Johnluke Pickard: Well, now that we're here, what are your views on Real Life so far? Let's go round the table .. Mr Ryker?
Bill Ryker: *dutiful eagerness*
Bill Ryker: I haven't yet grasped the full complexity of how things work here, Captain. With your permission, I'll study it further.
Johnluke Pickard: *nods*
Johnluke Pickard: Make it so. Mr Wharf, what have you observed?
Wharf: *speaks stiffly*
Wharf: Human actions are somewhat strange, Captain. I do not yet know whether they are honourable.
Johnluke Pickard: *purses lips thoughtfully and looks at Dayta*
Dayta: *exhibits bright interest*
Dayta: The culture is fascinating, Captain. It seems there are as many different ways of being human as there are of not being human.
Dianna Troy: *nods, looking thoughtful and caring*
Dianna Troy: I sense a lot of confusion here, Captain. There seems little agreement even on what Real Life is.
Johnluke Pickard: *rubs chin thoughtfully*
Johnluke Pickard: Beverley?
Beverley Crasher: *looks earnest*
Beverley Crasher: Their medical practices need a lot of investigating, Captain, but I believe we could benefit from them.
Johnluke Pickard: I hope so. What about their technology, Mr Laforge?
Georgy Laforge: *innocent enthusiasm*
Georgy Laforge: This place is amazing, Captain! They've got technologies here far beyond us, we could really learn from this!
Johnluke Pickard: *nods again and looks around the table*
Johnluke Pickard: Thank you all for your input. As for me, I find their history most interesting, I shall certainly pay some attention to that. Now, let's get to work. Report back whatever you think is important.
Dianna Troy: Aye Captain.
Wharf: Aye Captain.
Dayta: Aye Captain.
Bill Ryker: Aye Captain.
Georgy Laforge: Aye Captain.
Beverley Crasher: Aye Captain.
Johnluke Pickard: *stands, pulling his short tunic down to settle it comfortably*
Kew: *appears and speaks condescendingly*
Kew: Oh come now, Johnluke, just let them relax and have fun. You wouldn't want to overstretch those little mongbat minds now, would you?
Kew: *clicks his fingers and vanishes again*
Johnluke Pickard: *frowns sternly and exasperatedly*
Johnluke Pickard: Must he *always* do that?
Beverley Crasher: *exchanges speaking look with Dianna*
